HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 8/22/08 - In the race for box office position, comedy as usual is leading, with 25 comedies in the top 50. Comedies in the top ten include ‘Kung Fu Panda’, ‘Horton Hears a Who!’, and ‘Sex and the City’. Not far behind are ‘Get Smart’ and ‘Zohan’. Lesser comedies like ‘Harold and Kumar, ‘First Sunday’, ‘Traveling Pants 2’, ‘Semi-Pro’ and ‘Drillbit Taylor’ squeak by in the bottom of the top 50.The action genre has 17 in the top 50, skewing toward big-budget tentpoles like ‘The Dark Knight’ to occupy six positions in the top ten.
